The National Identification Authority has clarified that the Ghana Card cannot currently be used for financial transactions, but has, for the first time, officially confirmed that high-level discussions are ongoing to activate it in the future. In a statement signed by Head of Corporate Affairs, Williams Ampomah Emmanuel Darlas, the NIA pushed back against recent media reports suggesting the card had already been enabled for banking and payments. However, the Authority added a significant new detail: policymakers and financial regulators are actively deliberating on integrating the Ghana Card into the country's financial transaction systems.
