Charges against two of the eight men accused of the September 28 mass killing of 18 people, including 15 women and a 13-year-old boy, have been withdrawn.
The case has been transferred from the Lusikisiki magistrate’s court to the Mthatha high court.
NPA spokesperson Luxolo Tyali said on Monday the state had withdrawn charges against Lwando Abi, 33, and Zenande Paya, 38, who were initially charged alongside the other six accused.
