One of the hills in East London which has teased and terrorised runners since the earliest days, be it on training runs or in the VQS Diesel Depot 15km, is one that rises from Dorchester Heights and up to what is now one of the city’s major shopping centres, Hemmingways Mall.
Earlier it was simply bush and the N2 which drew participants up the hill either in one sprightly step or for some a wary step at a time.
