I agree fully with premier Oscar Mabuyane that the 30th anniversary of the Eastern Cape Socioeconomic Consultative Council (Ecsecc) is a moment to trace back the organisation’s steps from 1995, to ascertain how it has shaped the development of the Eastern Cape (DD, Jun 18).
As a reminder, before 1994 the Eastern Cape was three “countries” in one, made up of the two Bantustans and the Republic.
