Many initiates in the Eastern Cape are expected to graduate before schools reopen on Tuesday as the traditional winter initiation season winds down.
So far, 10 deaths have been recorded in the province, an improvement on the 14 fatalities reported during the same period in 2024.
Countrywide, 32 initiates died in the winter season last year.
